CATERINA WINERY

Our Story

Caterina Winery’s tradition of handcrafting premium wines began as a tribute to a beloved Italian Grandmother.  We opened our doors in 1993 with award-winning wines from premium grapes from the Yakima and Walla Walla Valleys and since then have continued the Caterina legacy of creating wines that showcase the beauty and elegance of Washington state fruit.   New owner and winemaker Don Townshend is a fixture in the Spokane wine community and we are thrilled to bring his winemaking expertise and passion to Caterina!

We follow the traditions of meticulous attention to detail; we remain closely connected with each and every lot of wine up until the thoughtful selection of barrels where we lay the wine to rest. We then relinquish our guidance, and the wine is put to sleep much as a very young child. It is during this rest period that the wine evolves, essentially "grows" on its own until, as with most things youthful, it passes through a phase of independence.

Located in the historic Broadview Dairy building, a Spokane landmark since the 1920s, our winery and tasting room is just a skip across the river from downtown Spokane.  We invite you to join us and celebrate our tradition of crafting wines to enjoy and share.
